ABV: 4.5%
Dixie pours a clear yellow color. A little darker than a standard Bud. No real head retention to speak of and actually a little flat drinking. The flavor is unremarkable and a bit tangy with some wheat and corn notes. This is a beer to be drunk ice cold by the six pack on a hot day. Beyond that only when visiting New Orleans and chumming with the locals.

I am surprised that you could find this beer, as my understanding was that this brewery was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina (I just double-checked, and it appears not to have re-opened). The real treat of the Dixie line was the Blackened Voodoo Lager. A bit of a novelty beer and not especially delicious, but it provided a unique flavor (not to mention a great name and label). Perhaps you will come across it over the course of the year.

So apparently they are partly open. This is from the bottle "The century-old Dixie Brewery was almost destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, but restoration is underway. With the help of our friends, we're working hard to re-beer New Orleans and the rest of the country"
